Patient Edu's Patient Education System
An
interactive computer-based educational delivery system to help
patients learn.
Patients can learn about their medical conditions, recommended treatment options, and post-operative regimens. The system uses broadcast quality, full motion video and animated graphics to explain complicated medical conditions and procedures in a highly understandable and engaging format targeted to people with a 6th to 8th grade education. It's rich format, interactivity and scripting has proven to be highly effective in improving patient comprehension and retention.
Patient Edu is system-friendly.
Content can be delivered on any video-based or interactive television system
including bedside computers, tablet PCs, kiosks. Even DVDs. What’s
more, Patient Edu software can read HL-7/ADT feeds and can be integrated
with all major EMR systems.
Patient Edu can now be viewed at home on the web.
Pre-admission and post-discharge, patients can now watch
their assigned patient education content at home using the Patient Edu Home and Family
Solution. Clinicians can assign patient education content in the hospital
and have patients watch it at home. All patient use of the home solution is
tracked in the hospital's Patient Edu SQL server database, so when the patient
comes in for a follow-up visit, the nurse can check the patient report to see
if the patient has watched the content and understood it. The Patient Edu
Home and Family Solution is accessed on the hospital's
website and gives the hospital a distinct marketing advantage.
Patient Edu is easy to learn, simple to use.
With just two clicks, a nurse can assign patient education content. Two
more clicks provides access to check patient progress in real-time. Our
built-in
training tutorial gets nurses using the program in minutes.
Patient Edu's Patient Education may be customized for each patient.
A patient's
program may be customized to include information relating to examination,
diagnosis,
treatment, pre-operative preparation, hospitalization as well as a recommended
post-operative regimen that may include drug treatment, physical therapy,
and life-style modification.
The programs may be used interactively to test patient understanding, document informed consent, gather health status and patient satisfaction data.

Our patient education information is based on national standards of care from nationally recognized organizations. In the cardiovascular service line, for instance, this includes such organizations as the ACC, AHA, STS, Heart Rhythm Society and others. A multi-disciplinary committee of physician and nurse content experts and educators review and approve each script. In addition, our institutional content developers report outcomes yearly related to current care practices.
The system is also available with ExitCare® Patient Education printable
discharge instructions in multiple languages including Spanish, Portuguese,
