Partnering for Patient Education of the Future
INDIANAPOLIS, IN, February 13, 2003- The Heart Center of Indiana announces a new partnership with GetWellNetwork (GWN) and Veritech's Patient EDU, LLC (Veritech). GetWellNetwork is a healthcare interactive services firm that reaches hospital patients and providers. Veritech is a developer and marketer of patient and staff education content for Healthcare Providers.
Working with The Heart Center clinical staff and executives, GWN and Veritech created an education experience designed to enhance the healing process for patients and their families. Through the television monitor in each private guest room, patients and family members can access customized/prescribed educational information. With the click of a button they can access post-procedure information, view and review health information specific to their needs, take a test to assess understanding, and complete satisfaction surveys before they leave the facility. They can even check email and order a movie to view.
"Our partnership with GWN and Veritech helps us provide world-class cardiac care to our guests. Education is very important in the treatment and prevention of cardiac disease. The GWN and Veritech system offers interactive, and effective education for our guests and their families," explains The Heart Center of Indiana's COO, Jean Knoedler.
GWN CEO and Founder Michael O'Neil explains, "From the moment we met the leaders of The Heart Center, we were both impressed and inspired by their commitment to innovative and compassionate care. At GetWellNetwork, we are truly honored to contribute to the creation of a new level of patient care delivery by bringing education, information and connectivity to the bedside through our patient empowerment platform."
"We are excited to work with The Heart Center of Indiana to deliver a totally customizable solution for patient and staff education," says, Stephen Graziano, President and Founder of Veritech Corporation.
Unlike a traditional hospital where nurses spend a majority of their time documenting patient care, at The Heart Center of Indiana nurses will have the time to explain care and answer any questions the patient, or their family, may have after viewing the in-room education. Because the system is interfaced with the hospital information system, all patient education interactions are automatically reported to the patient's medical record. In every aspect The Heart Center of Indiana continues its commitment to changing the way hearts are treated and to the belief that educating patients is an integral part in accomplishing this.
